Alappuzha, widely known as Venice of the East, is a beautiful piece of land in Kerala, India.

Alappuzha is full of rivers and lakes and ponds. Almost all the part of the district is interconnected with water ways. The District was called Venice of the East first during the British reign by the then Viceroy Lord Curzon. Before the rise of Cochin as the economical center of Kerala, Alappuzha had a very beautiful natural port there, and still you can see the remnants of the port. The sea bridge, beach near by places create a beautiful refreshment serene in the area. A big light house stands still saying glories of the past.
